5 simple ways to avoid getting sleepy

Published on: July 29, 2018 7:12 PM

Have healthy snacks throughout the day

Snacks don’t necessarily have to be food items like chips and chocolates. They can be healthy too. Having healthy snacks like yogurt, carrots and cabbage throughout the day helps keep the mind alert at all times and increases attention span along with giving you all the nutrients to keep your blood sugar constant.

Take power naps

Schedule napping in your day and make sure you adhere to your schedule. This way you’ll give your body rest before it can surprise you with unexpected tiredness. Build your entire day around your naps and it’ll become extremely unlikely that you get sleepy at the wrong time.

Do something of your interest

Whenever you’re stuck doing a monotone task or a job you’re least interested in, take short breaks to do something of your interest. This will help keep your mind engaged and awake and hence, lessen the chances of getting sleepy when you return to your boring duties.

Be friends with fresh air

Always abstain from working in closed environments for long periods of time. Every now and then, find a way to go out into the open and breathe the fresh air for a while.

Make it a point to do so like you make it a point to hang out with your friends. This will highly help your brain stay away from lethargy and complacency and hence, will help keep sleepiness away.

Don’t get comfortable

Never work or do any activity in a position where you feel too comfortable, for example, while laying on your bed or laying anywhere.

Such situations are perfect for sleepiness to barge right into your mental state and lower the standard of the work you’re producing. Always work in upright positions to avoid getting sleepy.
