Published on: July 25, 2018 12:20 PM

Veteran actor Mahira Khan shared her regret for not being in Pakistan today, the polling day, while many other actors are facing the backlash from social media users as the celebrities have rushed to Canada to attend a private channel award ceremony that is scheduled to be held on July 28.

A lot of prominent names of Pakistani industry would not be able to caste the vote as they are in Toronto and social media users are not happy with the situation.

In an Instagram post, Khan clarified that she tried but could not manage to arrive in for casting votes and she is regretting the moment.

“As much as I want to be there tomorrow, it is unfortunate that I can not be. There was absolutely no way to delay my work commitment which was scheduled months in advance, I tried my best. And so with a heavy heart, I will not be voting this year. I urge all of you to get out and vote!! May this year bring the change we all have been waiting to see. InshAllah. Pakistan zindabad!!!” she stated.
