Voting kicks off in crucial polls in Sanghar amid tight security

SANGHAR: As part of general elections 2018, voting has started in Sanghar district. There are three National Assembly and six Sindh Assembly seats in the district.

As per the Election Commission Pakistan (ECP) plan, polling started at 8 am on Wednesday and will go on till 6 pm. Those who will be inside the premises of a polling station by the expiry of this time will be allowed to cast their votes. The counting of votes will begin soon after polling is concluded.

Before the polling started, voters started to form queues outside polling stations since morning to use their right to vote in the presence of strict security arrangements.

According to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the number of registered voters in the district Sanghar is 951,327. Out of total, 521,239 voters are males whereas 430,088 voters are females.

There are 801 polling stations have been established out of which 477 have been termed as sensitive. There are 277 polling stations of males, 256 of females whereas 268 are combined polling stations.

Similarly, there are 2,680 polling booths have been established out of which 1,408 are of males whereas 2,680 boots have established for females.

The law enforcement agencies have chalked out the security plan for Election Day.

As per plan Pak Army, Rangers and police officers and personnel would perform duties across the district to maintain the law and order situation.

According to the consolidated security plan of the security agencies revealed that the total 3,186 Pakistan Army personnel, 250 rangers personnel and would perform duties in the district.

Similarly, total 4,025 police personnel have been directed to perform on polling stations whereas 486 police officials would patrol in the district. 100 police officials have been categorized as a reserved force.

PS-41 which is comprised of Sanghar Taluka and PS-46 consisting Sinjhoro Taluka constitute the National Assembly’s NA-215 constituency.

The second National Assembly constituency, NA-216, is spread over Khipro and Jam Nawaz talukas. The constituency is comprised of PS-42 Khipro taluka and PS-43 Jam Nawaz Ali taluka provincial assembly constituencies.

The NA-217 constituency is comprised of PS-44 Tando Adam taluka and PS-45 Shahdadpur taluka provincial assembly constituencies.
