
LAHORE: A total of six lives were lost by Tuesday as heavy rains hit the provincial capital.
According to Rescue 1122, two people were killed in Gumti Bazaar as their warehouse roof collapsed due to the heavy downpour.
Whereas a person died of electrocution in China Scheme area of Gujar Pura. Another incident left three people injured as their house’s roof collapsed in China Scheme.
Earlier on Monday night, three people were reportedly electrocuted due to the heavy rains in Rewaz Garden and Qurtaba Chowk areas.
The heavy downpour which lashed out on Monday night continues to hit the provincial capital, leaving electrical feeders to trip. According to officials 150 feeders were tripped that threw various parts of the capital into darkness.
Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) officials said that work is underway to restore the power outages in various parts of Lahore.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) officials stated that the total amount of rain recorded in the city on Monday was 170 millimetres.

The heavy rains left the traffic severely affected due to the accumulated water on the roads.
Authorities also issued a warning to Lahore airport pertaining to the weather condition, predicting that routine flight operations may be affected.
PMD officials have forecast more rain in the next two days.
Meteorological department (Met) officials have also forecast rain with thundershower along with gusty winds in Hazara, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha and Faisalabad division.
Heavy rains are also expected to hit Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Malakand, Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan.
Met officials observed that a hot and dry weather will persist in the rest of the country.
The heavy rains created a hype on social media as people berated the government’s failure to prepare for the monsoon season. Pictures and video’s of Pakistan’s failed drainage system flooded the roads of old Lahore as well as the posh/ developed areas.
Residents took it to twitter, sharing pictures with captions stating Lahore is resembling Venice.
