HYDERABAD: The Voice for Missing Persons of Sindh on Saturday concluded a seven-day hunger strike pleading with United Nations Organisation (UNO) for assistance regarding recovery of missing persons of Sindh.
Reportedly, the hunger strike camp, held in front of Hyderabad Press Club, was joined by disappeared persons’ relatives, Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM), nationalist leaders, intellectuals and civil society members, including Tanveer Arijo and Sindhu Amman Chandio and Taj Joyo. The protesters asked UNO to put pressure on Pakistan for an immediate and safe recovery of people in the province.
Despite the recent suo motu notice taken by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar, no progress could be observed for recovering missing persons, causing considerable disappointment among the victims’ families. Sorath Lohar, a protester whose father was forcibly whisked away by the security agencies, warned that if the missing persons are not released, the affected families would march to Islamabad.
