ISLAMABAD: Interim Information and law minister Ali Zafar on Thursday said that the government will decide placing name of former premier Nawaz Sharif on the Exit Control List (ECL) after his return.
While addressing the media, Zafar asserted that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had requested the federal government to place names of Nawaz along with his daughter Maryam in the no-fly list as the corruption references against Sharifs were in their final phase.
Sharifs are accused of money laundering, corruption and tax evasion in NAB’s supplementary references. However, the PML-N leaders left for London on June 14 to celebrate Eid with ailing wife/mother who has since then been on life support after she suffered from a cardiac arrest.
Zafar maintained the view that it was not humane to place Nawaz’s name on ECL at this time when his wife’s condition is somewhere in between life and death.
The law minister added that a committee has been formed to place the former premier’s name on ECL along with his daughter’s name.
