Khawaja Saad Rafique owner of assets worth Rs 178.4 million

LAHORE:  Nomination papers submitted to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) yet again revealed ownership of assets worth Rs 178.4 million by former Railway minister Khawaja Saad Rafique.

According to the submitted nomination papers by Rafique, the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader declared to have inherited two family homes in Lohari which are worth Rs 125,ooo.

Whereas, his current residence in Lahore’s Defence Phase 2 is worth Rs 48.2 million.

Moreover, Rafique owns 32 Kanal agricultural land in Moza Phalrawan that is worth Rs 70 million.

The nominataion papers revealed that the former minister is also the owner of Sadian Associates Marketing and consultancy which is worth Rs,29.8 million.

PML-N leader revealed ownership of Rs 14 million in prize bonds and cash along with ownership of shares worth Rs 11.5 million.

According to the list of declared assets, Rafique owns furniture worth Rs 2.5 million and has Rs 15 million in his bank account.

He has also borrowed Rs 29.5 million from a cousin.

Rafique has listed two wives along with two daughters and a son as dependents in his documents.

According to the documents, the PML-N leader paid Rs 2.9 million of taxes in 2015 over an income of Rs 22.6 million whereas as in 2016 he paid Rs 3.9 million in taxes when his earnings increased to Rs 29.9 million.

In 2017, the minister paid off Rs 5.2 million as tax over his Rs 39.8 million income.

After nomination papers submitted to ECP, many of the politicians’ assets have surfaced to air and have caught everyone’s attention.

Earlier on Wednesday, Maryam Nawaz’s assets ownership was revealed which was worth Rs 845 million, whereas Imran Khan’s amounted to be more than Rs 38 million.
