
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed authorities to prepare for potential economic challenges arising from regional tensions during a high-level meeting in Islamabad. He ordered a comprehensive contingency plan to address any emerging risks. The review focused on protecting Pakistan’s economic stability amid continuing regional uncertainty.
The prime minister was briefed on austerity and energy conservation measures during the meeting. He said Pakistan’s economy remained stable but stressed the need for timely preparedness. Shehbaz instructed relevant institutions to remain vigilant and ready to respond to changing regional conditions.

Shehbaz praised the public for supporting previous energy conservation and austerity campaigns. He said the government’s timely strategy ensured uninterrupted fuel supplies despite regional uncertainty. The prime minister added that targeted subsidies helped shield motorcyclists, transporters, and rickshaw drivers from rising fuel costs.
The prime minister also directed federal and provincial authorities to take strict action against those creating artificial petroleum shortages. Officials informed the meeting that Pakistan currently has sufficient petroleum reserves. They added that arrangements are in place to maintain uninterrupted fuel supplies nationwide.

The meeting was attended by senior cabinet members, the State Bank governor, and other top officials.
