Qadri demands suspension of officers involved in Model Town killings

Published on: June 18, 2018 7:56 PM

LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) patron Dr Tahirul Qadri demanded suspension of all responsible officers involved in the Model Town Killings in order to hold free, fair and transparent general elections under the Article 10-A of the constitution of Pakistan.

PAT head was addressing a media conference on the fourth anniversary of Model Town martyrs on June 17 at the party secretariat on second day of Eid. He expressed disappointment saying that not even a single responsible person of the Model Town massacre has been arrested even after four years.

Qadri regretting over the delay in justice in the Model Town case demanded the interim government that it was a constitutional responsibility of it (caretaker government) to provide justice to victims along with holding fair elections.

He said as per the constitution, especially its article 10-A, it was necessary that the officials should be separated from their public offices for a fair trial, therefore the responsible persons of Model Town carnage should be suspended as they are using their authorities to their own advantages.

Qadri termed the Sharif brothers (Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif) and their aides (former ministers) main culprits of the Model Town massacre saying that they should be trialed by the court. He said Sharif brothers were never asked about the murder of 14 innocent people of Minhajul Quran despite the fact that there were several sound proofs against them.

He said that law in the country had become incapable and failed to discriminate between the responsible authorities and the victims. He said that the Sharifs had not only backed but also awarded the responsible officers of Model Town killings with high ranks including posting them as ambassador.

He said his workers and heirs of the martyrs had fought for rights and justice continuously for four years. He confirmed that the innocent blood of martyrs of Model Town would not be wasted and responsible authorities would be punished.
