Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat on Thursday said that for once peace should be given a chance in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK).
During an exclusive interview with The Economic Times, Gen Rawat asserted that he was in favor of carrying out dialogue to seek resolution of the lingering or ongoing disputes.
He said that “Talks must happen. We kill them and more would join (the movement for freedom). Infiltration can be controlled, but this cycle of recruitment of local youth can go on and on…. So let’s give peace a chance and see.”
While referring to the incident of Indian Major Leetul Gogoi using a Kashmiri youth as a human shield on his jeep, he said that the inquiry was ongoing, adding that stern action would be taken against the culprit.
Over the last month, Indian atrocities continued its acts of terrorism, martyring 31 Kashmiris including a women and six minors.
Kashmir Media Service’s Research section issued data revealing that killings left three women widowed and five children orphaned.
The use of brute force, bullets, pellets and tear gas shells by the Indian army has till now killed 314 people, along with 288 arrested during raids and search operations.
According to the Kashmir media service, Indian forces have also disgraced six women during the month of May.
