DADU: The poverty-stricken people expressed grave concerns over the escalated rates of fruits, vegetables, meat and other essential commodities in the markets of town of Dadu during the Islamic month of Ramazan. As no action has been taken against the profiteers and market owners, the situation is similar in other parts of the district including Johi, Mehar, KN Shah and Radhan. Bananas cost Rs200 per dozen, apples cost Rs500 per kilo, mangoes cost varies between Rs400 to Rs600 per kilo and dates cost Rs400 per kilo. Fish has been sold at Rs350 per kilo. Mutton costs Rs800 per kilo, beef costs Rs700 per kilo while chicken cost varies between Rs350 to Rs380 per kilo. The consumers commonly complaint that shop keepers displayed no rate lists and charged them double rates.
