Meesha Shafi’s explosive allegation of sexual harassment against Pakistan’s most popular singer and actor Ali Zafar has propelled the #MeToo movement in Pakistan with more women coming forward to express and share their own stories of abuse and harassment. It didn’t take long for this controversy to go global as the Hollywood actress and the pioneer of the #MeToo campaign, Rose McGowan, who first accused the Hollywood tycoon Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault, also offered her support to Meesha. She called Meesha Shafi a heroine following her allegations of sexual harassment against Ali Zafar.
