LAHORE: Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique on Sunday lashed out at political rivals for disrespecting the PML-N government, while also saying that ousting elected governments by calling them ‘thieves’ has become a trend. “If you can not respect us, then do not disrespect us too. In Pakistan, it has become a trend to oust elected governments by levelling allegations of theft and corruption against them. For how long will this continue?” Saad Rafique said while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Railways workers’ flats. The lawmaker added that “in all respectable nations, the power of vote is respected and the elected governments are allowed to complete their tenures”. He added that the public’s decision is the most significant since it is based on performance and not “curses and abuses”. Referring to the firing incident at the residence of the Supreme Court (SC)’s Justice Ijazul Ahsan, Saad said that “no one will be allowed to turn the country into a jungle.” He added that those responsible for the incident would soon be held accountable and that “today is the day to stand in solidarity with the judiciary.” He also urged the politicians to refrain from using derogatory remarks against eachother and that “each of us should respect one another despite difference of opinion.”
