By elevating Manzoor Ahmad Pahsteen to the position of a leader, the Pashtuns have proved that they are the most democratic community in Pakistan. For they didn’t bring in consideration Manzoor’s social status or financial background. Instead, they gave importance to his character, uprightness and commitment to the cause of Pashtun uplift. This depicts the democratic values within Pashtun society. So far this aspect of Pushtuns was only known in books to the non-Pashtun communities of Pakistan. But now they have practically demonstrated that they are way more democratic and visionary than what others think of them.
Moreover, Pashtuns have set precedent for the rest of the communities in the land of Quaid that for choosing a leader the monetary aspect least matters. However, one ought to see how relevant is the thought process of a person whom you are ascending to the position of a leader, with the general public.
Furthermore, the mental affinity of a leader with his followers is pivotal. What Manzoor utters directly touches the hearts and minds of the Pashtuns. That’s why Manzoor is chosen by Pashtuns as their torchbearer. And this is the apt formula for selecting a leader. In Pakistan, the credit for setting such a marvelous democratic example goes to Pashtuns.
In addition to this, the astonishing aspect is that majority of Manzoor Ahmad Pashteen’s followers are educated and well read Pashtuns. This lot includes youngsters who were aware of the ground realities in Fata and other Pashtun dominated areas and were quite capable of articulating these facts. But they withheld their tongues because of threats to their own lives and their family members. However, when Manzoor Pashteen through his valour gave them voice, they gained strength which now has no parallel.
Last but not the least, may this precedent which is set by Pashtuns spread across the length and breadth of Pakistan so that indigenous leadership could come to the fore and uprightly represent the less privileged ones residing in the premises of the land of Quaid.
