LAHORE: District Administration on Tuesday deputed 33 Price Control Magistrates (PCMs) in five fruits and vegetable markets of the provincial metropolis in order to supervise the auction proceedings and ensure enforcement of notified whole rates. According to a notification letter available with Daily Times, 13 PCMs deputed in Badami Bagh fruit and vegetable market, six in Singhpura, four in Raiwind, five in Kaana Kacha and five in Iqbal Town Market. These PCMs will be responsible to ensure following steps, in collaboration with Agriculture Lahore extra assistant director and market committee secretary. They will curb malpractice and illegalities and maintain appropriate prices of fruits and vegetables during auction proceedings by lodging FIRs, imposing heavy fines and imprisonments, the letter read. Further, Agriculture Lahore extra assistant director and Market Committee secretary will assist the duty officer. These PCM shall submit taken report against violators to assistant commissioners on daily basis for kind perusal of commissioner Lahore Division and deputy commissioner Lahore about inspections, violation observed, number of challans, fine imposed, FIRs, arrests and imprisonments.
