ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar on Thursday said that the judiciary ‘gained a lot, while lost nothing’ during the meeting with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
While hearing the Murree constructions suo moto case, CJP told counsel Latif Khosa that the meeting between himself and PM Abbasi was fruitful for the judiciary. “The pleaders came with their requests but got nothing,” CJP added.
In another case pertaining Capital Development Authority (CDA), Justice Nisar questioned counsel Naeem Bukhari over his comments on various television channels.
“You talk a lot on television”, CJP said adding that fair criticism of the judiciary is welcome since it helps the institution to make amends. Justice Nisar added that he has himself ordered removal of banners in Karachi that are in support of him.
Naeem Bukhar then went on to ask Justice Nisar about the ‘judicial martial law talks’, to which the CJP said that ‘there would not be a judicial martial law’ and that democracy is the only way forward.
