Sir: The way mainstream Indian media reported on Sridevi’s death is extremely shameful and in bad taste. With horrific and gross animated visuals of bathtub with female body in it and commentators churning out conspiracy theories about her death’s ‘mystery’, the Indian media failed their iconic star.
This also goes on to show how the media in our countries hasn’t grown up and remains a wild beast waiting for breaking news and sensationalising national tragedies. This type of media never feels remorse to cash in on somebody’s death.
This should come to an end and a line should be drawn by the media priests. I understand the inevitable need for commercialism, but the fruits of commercialism should be channelized into creating something better instead of stooping down and keep following the greed.
And this is not just India; Pakistan also has to learn this. What ensued from Zainab’s murder was equally condemnable.
