Awards distributed among organisers of Pakistan Day events

DIR: Prizes and awards were distributed among the organizers of the Pakistan Day celebrations at an event arranged here in Barawal on Tuesday.

The Pak-Army and Barawal Trader Union had jointly organized a function on March 23 last in Brawal.

On the occasion, Upper Dir Operational Commander Brigadier Rao Amir Yaseen was the chief guest while Colonel Khalid, Tehsil Nazim Jehan Alam Khan, Trader Union President Haji Fatih Rehman, Rashid Rehman, Javed Iqbal, Hakimullah and a number of traders and youth were also attended the ceremony.

The ceremony was organised to appreciate the efforts of the Brawal trade union and youth committee who had put their big contribution in arranging the event on Pakistan day.

On March 23 a spectacular event was organized by the Pak-Army, Barawal Trade union and the Brawal’s Youth Task Force in connection with the Pakistan Day celebrations.

General Officer Commanding (GOC) Malakand Major General Ali Amir Awan was chief guest while Brigadier Amir Yaseen and Colonel Khalid, district nazim of Upper Dir Sahibzada Faseehullah, elders of the area and a big amount of spectators also attended the event.

However the event had to end in the middle due to heavy downpour on March 23. And thus the prize distribution ceremony had been postponed on March 23. Speaking on the occasion Brigadier Amir Yaseen appreciated the role of locals and their sacrifices rendered in Pak-India war in 1948.

On the behalf of GoC Malakand, he had given Rs 100,000 for the Youth Task Force Against Narcotics, Barawal,. The force was raised in Barawal which help the army and police to curb drug trafficking in the area.

Brigadier Amir Yaseen urged the youth to play their role in drugs prevention. Colonial Khalid briefed the chief guest about the law and order situation in the area.

He told that despite heavy rains the traders and youth of Barawal arranged a colourful event to mark the Pakistan Day. He said that the youth in Barawal subdivision made a raised task force against narcotics to discourage the scourge. He told that people of Malakand division will follow the youth in their campaign.

Javed Iqbal, also spoke on the occasion and vowed to continue the mission. He assured the Army officials their full support in this regard.

The president of Barawal Traders Union, Haji Fatih Rehman, thanked Brigadier Amir Yaseen for attending the event.

Later, trader’s president presented shields to the chief guest Brigadier Amir Yaseen and Colonel Khalid.
