The heart-melting wink by the very young Priya Prakash Varrier has undeniably become the reason behind the success of the song Manikya Malaraya Poovi from the movie, ‘Oru Adaar Love’. Nonetheless, what has given new heights to the song, has also become the centre of some unforeseen controversy for a few people. Just yesterday, a young Muslim filed an official complaint against the producers of the song, claiming that it spoke about Propet Muhammad (PBUH) and his wife in a “deplorable” and “dishonourable” way. In the written complaint by the Raza Academy, the FIR against the film cites the fact that no action has been taken to resolve the matter, and thus this encourages investigation into the issue. “The lyrics are of a Malayalam folk song which is only sung during Muslim events. Using it in movies or any form of entertainment is against the Islamic laws,” the President of the Academy told News 18. He also emphasised on a nationwide protest until strict action was taken, such as the song being removed from the film itself. The song has been composed by Thalassery K Refeeque and recreated by Shaan Rahman. In the viral footage, Priya can be seen winking at a boy (a fellow student) as she flirts with him all the way across the classroom, in a college setting.
