
LAHORE: The Punjab Health Department has decided to regularise the services of as many as 3,000 nurses presently working on contract basis, said Punjab Nursing Director General (DG) Kousar Perveen on Friday. In this connection, a summary prepared by the department would be forwarded to Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif soon, she said while addressing a ceremony held in connection to honour a nurse for her extra ordinary performance during a cylinder blast in Defence. AMS Nursing Affairs Dr Shabnam Gulzar, Deputy Chief Nursing Superintendent Farhat Mahboob, Director Nursing Sajida Zahoor, Razia Bano and a large number of nurses were also present. The DG nursing said that the chief minister was focused to ensure maximum provision of medical facilities for masses by strengthening the Health Department, and that the department was also considering a policy of regularising the nurses recruited against the posts created by the Board of Management. She said that the chief minister was keen to impart modern training to nurses. She said that Punjab Health Department was committed to honouring those nurses, who had shown a great sense of responsibility while performing their duties.
