Describe yourself in a few words. I am someone who has high expectations for my results. I am confident in my ability to produce and while I prepare myself for the worst, I do work that can turn the odds for the best. How did you begin your career as a model and actor? I started my career in modeling. I did TV commercials on and off while I was pursuing my graduation degree. After completing my studies, I opted for acting as a career. You are currently starring in the new drama ‘Silsilay’. Describe the premise of the show and your character profile. Simply put, ‘Silsilay’ is an entertaining serial with intense emotions, drama, suspense and romance. My character Shahzeb is quite interesting; he is a fun loving person and has a vibrant and optimistic personality. He falls in love with one of his cousins but little does he know that his friend Biya has a crush on him since childhood. The story continues thereon. What are your upcoming projects? My upcoming drama serial Baitaab will air soon on ARY Digital. It is a Six Sigma Plus production and is written by Sameera Fazal and directed by Owais Khan. Have you signed any paper work for films? I got offers but no, I’ve not signed anything yet. I am waiting for an ideal project to work on. I would like to quote sir Javed Sheikh here. He once told me that the key to success in the field of media is passion and patience. As an actor, who would you like to work with and why? Sajal Ali – I think she is a wonderful actress. Although it will be challenging to work with her onscreen but I love challenges myself. What is the best and worst part about being an actor? I believe everyone in their childhood wished to become their favorite movie characters; the defenders of the town, villains or superheroes who could summon the storm by lifting their weapons in the air. These dreams can only be accomplished if you are an actor. That is why I love being an artist – the worst part is when your private life is public. Is it hard keeping your personal life private given that you are a celebrity? What challenges do you have to cope with? Your life is not yours anymore, it is everybody’s. People love to start rumors about celebrities. It is not a big deal for me but at times, people say some really nasty things about you and it negatively affects your future, life and family. It is quite hard but worth it. If you were to take part in a biopic, who would you portray and why? I would like to portray Imran Khan as I am a huge fan of his. I just love his swag and influential personality! How would you describe your sense of style? I love to look smart, but my style is casual. I like to dress according to my mood. I mostly wear darker clothes in winter but prefer brighter clothes during the summer. What is your fitness regime? I am a Kashmiri Butt so apparently, I have inherited a very strong appetite but I prefer grilled options over oily foods. I work out daily for about 90 minutes to maintain a balance. What is your advice for young and aspiring actors? As an actor, you become an expert at starting over. Each role brings ignorance and insecurity with it so you have to approach it with curiosity and humility. Having worked in many drama serials, I’ve always been nervous, but I keep reminding myself that I have to do my best. So, my advice for youngsters is to give their best in auditions and work hard.
