PTPD-PITB jointly issue regular licenses

Published on: January 10, 2018 3:53 AM

LAHORE: A joint project of the Punjab Traffic Police Department (PTPD) and Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) — the Driving License Issuance Management System (DLIMS) — issued a total number of 6,157,988 learner and 4,534,139 regular licenses. In this regard, a meeting was held under PITB Chairman Dr Umar Saif on Tuesday. The meeting was informed that DLIMS had received overwhelming response from the masses. The breakup shows that for HTV 3,388 learner and 76,974 regular licenses were issued; for LTV, 561,535 learner and 408,339 regular, for car/jeep 1,055,997 learner and 895,464 regular; for motorcycle, 1,458,074 learner and 1,090,462 regular were issued. Dr Umar Saif expressed his satisfaction over the operations across the Punjab province and said that the technology has significantly contributed to facilitate the citizens in getting their licenses for all categories through an automated process within the stipulated time and eliminated the corrupt practices of the former manual system and also in other citizen services. The applicants can now verify their license in any of the 36 districts of Punjab by entering their computerized national identity card (CNIC) number at http://dlims.punjab.gov.pk/verify/ while they can also track the status of their license applied in any of the 36 districts of Punjab by entering their CNIC number at http://dlims.punjab.gov.pk/track/

The licensing operation has now been centralized including database and printing facility for 35 districts of Punjab and a separate facility for Lahore. The capacity building through training sessions for Police officials is a regular feature being organized by PITB for accurate and timely data entry in the system. The ownership of DLIMS program has been completely transferred to Police Department while PITB’s role is limited to manage operations and maintenance i.e. Database and Technical assistance of the project. All queries are dealt jointly by both entities.
