LAHORE: Late SP Chaudhry Aslam Khan’s third death anniversary is being observed today. Chaudhry Aslam was assassinated in 2014 when his convoy was attacked using an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted in a vehicle on the Lyari Expressway. Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) had claimed the responsibility of the attack. Karachi’s Beaumont Road, where the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) office is located, was also renamed as Chaudhry Aslam Shaheed road to pay tribute to the brave officer. Chaudhry Aslam was considered as a threat to militants as he had killed and arrested a number of suspects belonging to various banned militant outfits, Lyari gangs and political parties in numerous encounters and raids over his 30-year long career.
