LAHORE: A 25-year-old girl has been burned to death by her jilted lover in the southern part of India.
Reportedly, the boy doused her with petrol and set her alight on a crowded road in Secunderabad city in southern Telangana state.
Some passersby rushed to put out the fire and took her to a hospital where she succumbed to her burned injuries.
According to hospital sources, 60 percent of the girl’s body was burned when she was admitted to the hospital.
“Both of them had known each other for the last two years. The boy was under the impression that this girl was in love with him but when he found otherwise, he could not tolerate the insult,” police said.
According to the Press Trust of India, the boy was in love with the girl and when she showed disinterest, he started harassing and stalking her.
Police arrested the boy and charged him with several offences including attempted murder and molestation.
