‘Sky is the limit’ for Khuhro’s hometown students

LARKANA: About three hundred students of the public school of village Masoo Hab, located beside Akil villagem the native village of Senior Minister for Food, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, are studying under open sky for past five months, as the contractor has left the under construction building and has not returned to complete the work.

This was revealed when a team of Larkana journalists visited the village on Tuesday.

The village is located in the limits of Union Council Akil, the home village of Sindh’s Senior Minister for Food, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro. On seeing the Media team among them, the little students who are enrolled in the school from class one to 5, started protesting holding their books in their hands which include Bilawal Bhutto, Abdul Sami Mirani, Aajiz Detho, Muhammad Ibrahim Kumbhar, Aleesha, Muskan Kumbhar, Farhana Soomro and others. They stated that due to dilapidated condition of the previous school building it was demolished six months back for repairing. They said that ground work and pillars were raised within a month but since last five months roof of the building has not been constructed due to which they are forced to get education under open sky in this sizzling hot weather for which they are facing serious hardships.

They said that many boys & girls also do not attend the school due to scorching heat and their education continues to suffer badly. They said that if they come to school they also leave it before school closing time because of heatwave to save themselves from heatstroke. They further said that several students have fainted previously due to this reason that is now not coming to the school. They asked that when the repair & renovation work was not intended to be carried out then why the old building was converted into debris.

The little boys & girls urged the Sindh Education Minister Jam Mehtab Dahar, Food Minister, who is also provincial PPP chief, Nisar Khuhro and other related authorities to take notice of the issue and get the school work completed without loss of further time so that they are not be left illiterate. School Head Master Muhammad Yasin Detho stated on the occasion that the contractor left the school construction work in mid which include four classrooms, one each hall and an office for which complaints have been sent to the education department authorities in Larkana but of no use so far due to which kids are forced to study under sky. He also urged higher education authorities to have mercy on these innocent children and get the building completed immediately.
