LAHORE: Following Jahangir Tareen’s disqualification in a Supreme Court’s (SC) verdict on Friday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said that SC did not find Tareen guilty of financial wrongdoings.
Imran said that unlike Nawaz Sharif who is guilty of money laundering, corruption, tax evasion and concealment of assets, no financial wrongdoings were found in Tareen’s case.
Imran added that Tareen was disqualified “only on interpretation of a trust deed”.
Imran also lauded Tareen for being committed to his party’s cause and said that whether Tareen remains a part of his party of the parliament, he would remain next to him.
On Friday, SC disqualified Tareen on the basis of Article 62(1)(f) of the Constitution of Pakistan. It said that Tareen had used suspicious language in his statements and had not declared his offshore company.
