The directive was issued during a meeting chaired by the chief minister to review ongoing education reforms across Punjab. Maryam Nawaz said regular interaction between policymakers and classrooms would help authorities better understand the challenges faced by students and teachers while promoting accountability in the education sector.

The meeting also focused on expanding digital governance in education. The chief minister instructed officials to review the existing digital registration system for private schools and develop a comprehensive framework for the registration and monitoring of tuition centres across Punjab. She also sought proposals for digitally mapping all tuition centres to establish a complete and transparent database.

Officials briefed the meeting that the government had successfully achieved its target of enrolling 4.3 million students in public schools over the past two years and four months, describing the initiative as a significant milestone in improving access to education.

Maryam Nawaz also directed that salary payments for teachers working under the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) be made through digital banking channels. Around 138,000 teachers are expected to receive bank accounts under the initiative to ensure transparency, timely payments and improved financial management.

The meeting also reviewed progress under the Punjab School Reforms Programme (PSRP), with the chief minister calling for a comprehensive plan to introduce sustainable and innovative revenue sources for the education sector.

Separately, Maryam Nawaz instructed all relevant departments to remain on high alert as the monsoon season begins. She ordered commissioners, deputy commissioners and field officials to stay fully prepared for emergencies, ensure rapid drainage of rainwater, monitor flood-prone areas, and keep Rescue 1122, WASA and other emergency services ready to respond while maintaining public safety across the province.
