French woman rescued

A French woman who was allegedly subjected to domestic abuse has been rescued along with her five children in the Bara area of Khyber district. Police launched the operation after receiving information that the woman was being mistreated and confined inside a house. The French woman rescued in Khyber case has drawn attention to concerns about the protection of vulnerable individuals and families.

According to police, authorities received a report on June 18 stating that a foreign woman was allegedly facing domestic violence and was being prevented from leaving her residence. Following the report, police conducted a raid on the house and took the woman into protective custody.

The woman, identified as 54-year-old Sylvie Yasmine, is a French national who married a Pakistani citizen and had been living in Bara since 2014. She has five children, including one child with hearing and speech impairments. Police said the woman told investigators that she had been subjected to ongoing mistreatment and was not allowed to leave the house.

After recording her statement, police transferred the woman and her children to a women’s police station in Peshawar, where they are receiving protection, medical examinations, and legal assistance. Authorities said they are also coordinating with relevant institutions to ensure the welfare and safety of the family.

Police have registered a case against the woman’s husband, and further investigations are underway. The French Embassy has been informed through the Foreign Office. According to District Police Officer Waqar Ahmed, the woman has expressed a desire to return to France. Officials said the necessary legal and diplomatic procedures will be completed before a final decision is made. The French woman rescued in Khyber case remains under investigation, and authorities say action will be taken in accordance with the law after all facts are established.
