Pakistan and Canada agreed to strengthen trade and investment cooperation during talks in Islamabad. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand discussed expanding ties in agriculture, energy, industry, and other key sectors.
Anand met Prime Minister Shehbaz at the PM House, where both sides reviewed bilateral relations. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, National Food Security Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain, and senior officials also attended the meeting.

Shehbaz said Pakistan and Canada share friendly relations that should grow further through economic cooperation. He highlighted opportunities in agriculture, agri-foods, renewable energy, vaccine manufacturing, automobiles, and auto parts industries.
Meanwhile, Anand said Canada wants to explore new areas of cooperation with Pakistan. She expressed interest in sectors including agriculture, mining, energy, and automotive industries. Both sides also discussed the Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement.
The two countries agreed to exchange trade and minerals delegations to identify new opportunities. Additionally, they recognized the Pakistani-Canadian community as an important bridge between both nations. Officials said stronger economic links would benefit both countries.

Following the meeting, Pakistan and Canada signed a protocol on phytosanitary regulations for importing Canadian canola into Pakistan. The agreement was signed by Ishaq Dar and Anita Anand on behalf of their respective governments.
Earlier, Dar and Anand agreed to hold annual progress reviews to maintain momentum in bilateral cooperation. The countries also discussed security, illegal immigration, human smuggling, and cybercrime cooperation. Both sides expressed commitment to expanding their partnership.
