Asim Munir, Anita Anand reaffirm Pakistan-Canada security partnership

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, met Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Sunday, where both sides discussed bilateral relations, regional security, and matters of mutual interest. The meeting reflected the continued engagement between Pakistan and Canada on issues related to peace, security, and defence cooperation.

During the meeting, Field Marshal Asim Munir shared Pakistan’s perspective on global peace and regional stability, stressing the importance of greater cooperation and coordinated efforts to address common security challenges. He highlighted the value of constructive partnerships in promoting lasting peace and responding effectively to evolving regional and international security concerns.

Anita Anand appreciated Pakistan’s continued efforts and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, acknowledging the country’s role in supporting regional peace and stability. She also recognised Pakistan’s contributions toward maintaining security and promoting cooperation on issues of shared international importance.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations by expanding cooperation in defence and security while maintaining regular engagement on areas of mutual interest. They also agreed on the importance of sustained dialogue and collaboration to further enhance the long-standing relationship between Pakistan and Canada.

The meeting underscored the shared interest of both countries in promoting peace, strengthening security cooperation, and expanding diplomatic engagement. It also reflected their willingness to build on existing ties through continued collaboration on regional stability and broader bilateral initiatives.
