
Eight Pakistani women mountaineers achieved a historic milestone by successfully summiting the 6,040-metre Khosar Gang Peak. The achievement came during the second Women’s Khosar Gang Expedition organized by the Alpine Club of Pakistan. The success highlights growing female participation in mountaineering.
The team reached the summit on the morning of July 17 after completing the challenging expedition. The climbers represented different regions of Pakistan, including Gilgit-Baltistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Islamabad.

Expedition leader Bibi Afzon guided the team throughout the climb. Meanwhile, experienced high-altitude guides Ali Muhammad Sadpara, Sadiq Hussain Sadpara, and Ilyas Hushay provided technical support. Their expertise helped ensure a safe and successful ascent.
The expedition also included route preparation and rope-fixing work led by Quaid Shigri. According to the Alpine Club of Pakistan, his technical skills played an important role in supporting the climbers. The team completed the challenging route with strong coordination.
Alpine Club of Pakistan Secretary General Ayaz Shigri congratulated the climbers and described the achievement as a landmark moment. He praised their courage, determination, teamwork, and professionalism. He said the success would encourage more women to participate in adventure sports.

The organization reaffirmed its commitment to promoting women’s involvement in mountaineering. Additionally, the Alpine Club said it would continue creating opportunities for female climbers at national and international levels. The successful Khosar Gang expedition represents a significant achievement for Pakistan’s adventure sports community. Meanwhile, the accomplishment is expected to inspire more women to pursue high-altitude climbing and represent Pakistan on global peaks.
