ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of Pakistan has rejected claims circulating through Afghan Taliban government channels regarding alleged drone strikes on purported Daesh camps in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, describing the assertions as false propaganda.
In a statement issued on Friday, the ministry said the Afghan government had been promoting the claims through official statements and affiliated media platforms, adding that the allegations were “incorrect, as always.”
The ministry maintained that the Afghan Taliban administration was attempting to divert attention from security concerns within Afghanistan by spreading what it called misleading narratives about activities inside Pakistan.
According to the statement, dozens of militant organisations, including the militant group Daesh, continue to operate from areas under the control of the Afghan Taliban government. The ministry alleged that these groups receive support and assistance from camps located within Afghan territory.
It further claimed that the Afghan authorities frequently issue what Pakistan described as false and misleading statements in an effort to conceal the presence and activities of militant organisations operating from Afghanistan.
The statement also referred to a recent aerial incident near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. According to the ministry, a low-grade drone operated by the Afghan Taliban government entered Pakistani airspace near Shinko Khyber.
Pakistan said the drone was immediately detected and tracked by the country’s air defence systems before being successfully neutralised. The ministry praised the readiness of the Pakistan Air Force and the effectiveness of the country’s air defence network in responding to the incident.
The latest exchange of accusations highlights continuing tensions between Islamabad and Kabul over cross-border security issues and the presence of militant groups in the region.
Pakistan has repeatedly expressed concerns over attacks allegedly planned from Afghan territory, while Afghan authorities have rejected such allegations and accused Pakistan of making unfounded claims.
The ministry concluded its statement by asserting that “truth always prevails over falsehood,” reiterating Pakistan’s rejection of the Afghan government’s claims regarding drone operations inside its territory.
