The Punjab government has allocated Rs3.85 billion for the Clinic on Wheels programme in its 2026-27 budget. The funding aims to expand access to healthcare services at the community level. The initiative is expected to benefit residents in underserved and remote areas across the province.
Presenting the provincial budget, Finance Minister Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman said the government had dedicated significant resources to improving public health services. He noted that the health sector received 10 percent of the overall provincial budget. The allocation reflects the government’s focus on strengthening healthcare delivery.
The minister said the Clinic on Wheels programme would continue providing medical services directly to citizens. The project is designed to improve access to healthcare for people who face difficulties reaching hospitals and clinics. Mobile health units are expected to play an important role in preventive and primary healthcare.
Meanwhile, Shuja highlighted other health initiatives introduced by the provincial government. He said Punjab was also operating an air ambulance service to improve emergency medical response and patient transportation. These measures form part of broader efforts to modernize healthcare infrastructure and services.
The government maintains that expanding healthcare access remains a key priority under the new budget. Officials say investments in mobile clinics and emergency services will help bring medical facilities closer to the public. The latest allocation underscores Punjab’s commitment to improving healthcare outcomes throughout the province.
