Salma shines at National Junior Athletics Championship with two gold medals

Emerging athletics star Salma Afridi from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has firmly established herself as one of Pakistan’s most promising young athletes after delivering an outstanding performance at the 6th National Junior Athletics Championship 2026, winning two gold medals, two silver medals, and one bronze medal.

Her remarkable achievements at the national event reflect not only her natural talent but also her unwavering dedication, discipline, and commitment to excellence. Salma’s success serves as a shining example of how hard work, perseverance, and proper guidance can transform potential into achievement. Having undergone extensive and well-structured training at the Hayatabad Sports Complex, Peshawar, Salma showcased her abilities with confidence and determination against some of the country’s finest young athletes.

Her impressive medal haul has earned widespread praise and has inspired many aspiring athletes across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Speaking to the media after her success, Salma Afridi attributed her achievements to relentless hard work and the professional coaching of former international athlete Abid Nazim. “I have always believed that Allah never lets sincere hard work go to waste. This success is the result of continuous training, dedication, and the valuable guidance of my coach. I am deeply grateful to everyone who supported and encouraged me throughout my journey,” she said.

Salma emphasized that her recent achievements are only the beginning of a much larger journey.

“This is not my destination; it is just the start. I will continue to work even harder in the future and strive to bring more honors to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Pakistan at both national and international levels. My dream is to raise Pakistan’s flag on the world stage and make my country proud,” she added.

Her success highlights the importance of providing young athletes with quality coaching, proper facilities, and competitive opportunities.

Sports observers believe that with continued support and development, Salma Afridi has the potential to become a future international medalist for Pakistan.

Separately, Pakistan Police woman athlete Moazzama delivered an outstanding performance at the 6th Junior National Athletics Championship Peshawar 2026, winning a silver medal in the 400-meter race. Air Force, WAPDA, Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan, participated in the championship. Despite stiff competition, Pakistan Police athlete Moazzama displayed exceptional skill and determination to secure the silver medal. Inspector General of Police Punjab, Abdul Kareem, congratulated Pakistan Police athlete Moazzama on her achievement and appreciated her hard work, dedication, and outstanding performance. IG Punjab said that the remarkable accomplishments of Pakistan Police women athletes are a source of pride and are helping project a positive image of the Police Department at the national level.

IG Punjab Abdul Kareem further said that athletes who bring honour to the department and the country by winning medals in national and international sporting events are a matter of great pride for Punjab Police. He added that every possible encouragement and support would continue to be extended to such talented athletes. Director General Pakistan Police Sports Board, Additional IG Imran Arshad, and Chief Sports Officer DIG Athar Ismail Amjad also congratulated woman police athlete Moazzama on her remarkable achievement and expressed their best wishes for her future success.
