Rs 27.62 billion allocated for Planning Ministry’s 22 schemes, initiatives

The government on Friday allocated Rs 27.626 billion to execute 22 schemes, including 10 ongoing projects and nine special initiatives, of the Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives (PD&SI) under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for 2026-27. According to budget documents released here, Rs2.821 billion has been earmarked for 10 ongoing schemes. The allocation includes Rs400 million for Capacity Building and Institutional Strengthening of the Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Rs360 million for the RASTA Competitive Grants Programme for Policy-Oriented Research, Rs500 million for the Development Communication Project, Rs350 million for strengthening the ministry in information technology, and Rs300 million for strengthening the ministry’s monitoring and evaluation of PSDP projects (first revised). The government has also allocated Rs194.640 million for the feasibility and construction of the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) campus at H-16, Islamabad; Rs170 million for the establishment of the Federal SDGs Support Unit; Rs150 million for the construction of Plan House and the National Data Center at Administrative Sector F-5/2, Islamabad; Rs196.700 million for the Change of Base of National Accounts (CBNA) project; and Rs200 million for the National Economic Transformation and 5Es Unit (NETU) (revised). Under Special Initiatives, the government has allocated Rs2.805 billion. The allocation includes Rs200 million for the Centre of Excellence for CPEC, the counterpart of China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) Academy of Macroeconomic Research; Rs300 million for the CPEC Secretariat; Rs5 million for Integrated Energy Planning (IEP) for Sustainable Development; Rs300 million for the Social Sector Accelerator for HNEYG National Priority Initiatives; Rs300 million for the Prime Minister’s Innovation Support and Startup Grants; Rs50 million for the Apex Sub-Committee on the Sociopolitical Domain’s Peace and Development Support Unit; Rs350 million for the establishment of the National Centre for Brand Development; Rs1 billion for the Rising Together Project for the uplift of Pakistan’s 20 poorest districts on a 50:50 basis; and Rs300 million for the National Multi-Sectoral Nutrition Programme to Reduce Stunting and Other Forms of Malnutrition. Similarly, Rs17 billion has been earmarked for the Post-Flood 2022 Reconstruction Programme: Resilience Enhancement and Livelihood Diversification in Balochistan, Rs 4 billion for project liabilities and Rs1 billion for new initiatives under CPEC 2.0.
