In a significant administrative move, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has appointed SP Kainat Azhar as the first female Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) of Islamabad.
According to officials, Kainat Azhar has been entrusted with the responsibility of leading the capital’s traffic police and implementing reforms aimed at improving public service and traffic management.
The appointment is part of the interior minister’s broader vision of promoting a people-friendly and service-oriented image of the Islamabad Police. Officials said the newly appointed CTO has been tasked with further strengthening the traffic police system and ensuring courteous and professional conduct toward citizens. The move is also being viewed as an effort to encourage women police officers by assigning them key leadership roles while enhancing institutional performance. Kainat Azhar has previously served in several important positions, including as SSP Operations in Multan, and is regarded as an experienced police officer.
