Sir: One only needs to take a peek at the daily news to discern the situation faced by Pakistan’s women. Women are facing domestic violence, target killings, child marriages and other atrocities every day. One of these atrocities are acid attacks. Despite corrosive acid being so dangerous, it is sold without any permits or regulations. These kinds of crimes mostly happen in rural and tribal areas. It is very unfortunate that women can have their lives ruined over small disagreements and disputes. One never hears that a man has ever become a victim of an acid attack. It is the government’s duty to ensure that corrosive acid is no longer sold openly so that this barbarity can be stopped. FATIMA ZAHRA Turbat Published in Daily Times, December 1st 2017.
