Prizes given to farmers at Sona Kissan Convention

Published on: May 13, 2026 8:59 AM

Sona Centre, a leading agricultural input supply network in Pakistan, successfully organized the “Sona Kissan Convention” at Ramada Hotel to distribute prizes among farmers who won through a lucky draw. The event was held in connection with the Farmer Incentive Program, “Sona Sy Hy Kamyabi,” launched to support and facilitate the farming community.

During the ceremony, various prizes, including motorcycles, LED televisions, and mobile phones, were distributed among the winning farmers. The initiative reflects Sona Centre’s commitment to empowering farmers and recognizing their valuable contribution to Pakistan’s agricultural sector.

Sona Centre serves as a sustainable support system for small- and medium-scale landholders, enabling them to adopt modern farming practices and improve crop yields. The organization has developed a robust agricultural ecosystem that provides high-quality fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides, backed by a team of more than 300 agronomists dedicated to supporting farmers across the country.

Syed Ali Qasim Gilani, MNA & Member Parliamentary Committee on National Food Security, attended the event as Chief Guest. He appreciated Fauji Fertilizer Company for establishing a widespread network of Sona Centres across the country. He commended the role of these centres in strengthening national food security by ensuring the timely availability of quality agricultural inputs at controlled rates, along with advisory support and AI-based guidance for farmers.

Dr. Rao Asif Ali, Vice Chancellor, Mian Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture, highlighted that the Sona Centre ecosystem is supporting the farming community through sustainable agricultural practices and AI-driven advisory services. He emphasized that public-private partnership is essential in bridging the gap between academia, research, and farmers.

Mr. Zahoor Khan, Head of Sales (Central Zone), Multan stated that FFC is promoting gender diversity through the inclusion of female agronomists in leadership roles to better serve the farming community in general and female farmers in particular. He further shared that Sona Centre is empowering farmers by providing an e-commerce platform, crop insurance services, and support in accessing agricultural loans at lower mark-up rates.

Mr. Aftab Naseem, Head of Nextgen Nutrients briefed farmers on the company’s Enhanced Efficiency Fertilizers and FFC’s collaboration with Yara International for the launch of climate-resilient products.

At the conclusion of the event, another lucky draw was conducted for mobile phones, which were distributed among the winning farmers, adding further excitement and appreciation for farmer participation.
