
Kuwait has agreed with Pakistan to explore the development of strategic petroleum storage facilities, aiming to strengthen long-term energy cooperation between the two countries. The understanding emerged during a high-level meeting focused on expanding collaboration in refining, fuel supply security, and broader energy sector investment opportunities.
The discussion took place between Ali Pervaiz Malik and Nassar Abdulrahman Jasser Almutairi, where both sides reviewed regional energy challenges and future cooperation plans. Officials emphasized that enhanced coordination in petroleum infrastructure could improve energy stability and support mutual economic interests amid global supply uncertainties.

Furthermore, the petroleum minister expressed gratitude to Kuwait for its timely support in ensuring the safe delivery of the vessel Khairpur, which carried essential fuel supplies to Pakistan. The shipment included approximately 45,000 tonnes of diesel and 10,000 tonnes of jet fuel, delivered under special arrangements during disruptions linked to regional maritime tensions.
According to officials, the fuel shipment reached Pakistan after temporary supply challenges caused by instability in key shipping routes such as the Strait of Hormuz. Authorities highlighted that coordinated efforts by national leadership helped ensure uninterrupted energy supplies, which supported transportation, industry and national fuel requirements during a critical period.

Meanwhile, both sides agreed that strengthening bilateral energy cooperation remains a priority for future planning, especially in refining capacity and strategic reserves. The Kuwaiti ambassador praised Pakistan’s diplomatic role in regional peace efforts, stating that the country is viewed positively for maintaining a balanced and responsible foreign policy approach during ongoing geopolitical tensions.
Additionally, energy officials noted that Pakistan is actively considering long-term strategies such as building petroleum reserves and accelerating renewable energy projects. The initiative aligns with broader economic planning aimed at reducing vulnerability to global oil price shocks while ensuring consistent energy availability for domestic consumption and industrial growth in the coming years.
