Promoted as Pakistan’s first zombie thriller, Zombeid combines gore, action sequences and local humour in a story set in Karachi. The trailer introduces Fahad Mustafa as a mixed martial artist, while Mehwish Hayat appears as his romantic interest.

The story appears to revolve around a mysterious virus outbreak that begins during one of Mustafa’s cage matches on the night before Eid. Hayat is present when chaos erupts, forcing the lead characters and several civilians into survival mode as the city faces a zombie crisis.

The trailer shows authorities initially dismissing reports of the outbreak, with one police officer jokingly reacting to news of “zombies” on Chand Raat. As the situation worsens, the government eventually becomes involved.

Visually, the film leans heavily into classic 1980s Hollywood action references. Mustafa is shown wearing a sleeveless tank top and headband reminiscent of Sylvester Stallone’s iconic First Blood look, while action scenes appear inspired by franchises such as The Terminator and Die Hard.

In one sequence, Mustafa recreates a famous action-movie catchphrase, while another scene features him leaping dramatically from a rooftop during a confrontation with infected attackers.

The trailer also highlights the film’s graphic nature, featuring blood, combat and horror visuals that suggest the movie is intended for mature audiences rather than family viewers.

Despite the violent elements, the film balances horror with distinctly Pakistani comedic moments and dialogue, giving it a local identity within a globally recognisable zombie-action formula.

Zombeid is scheduled for worldwide theatrical release on the first day of Eidul Azha, positioning itself as one of Pakistan’s major festive film releases.

The film has already generated online discussion, with viewers noting its unusual genre choice and nostalgic action styling.
