A police official was shot dead by unidentified assailants in the Tarkho area of Mamond Tehsil in Bajaur District on Monday.
DSP Niaz Muhammad while confirming the incident said the victim was identified as Saeed Ullah, son of Ghulam, a resident of Katkot Mamond.
The cop received multiple bullet shots and died on the spot.
Following the tragic incident, police registered a case and launched an investigation to trace and arrest those involved in the killing.
In Bajaur it was the 12th cop martyred by miscreants during the current year.
Youth killed, two injured in Kurram landmine blast
A youth was killed and two others injured when a landmine exploded near the Pak-Afghan border in Kurram district on Monday, police informed.
The deceased was identified as Latif Khan while the injured identified as Nasir Khan and Habib Khan were reportedly real brothers.
The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment shortly after the incident.
Police officials said an investigation into the blast has been launched, while additional security personnel have been deployerd in the area to ensure safety and secure the site.
CM Afridi condoles with families of martyred cops in Bannu
Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi on Monday visited Bannu and met the families of police personnel martyred in the terrorist attack on Fateh Khel Police Station.
He offered condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks.
During the visit, the Chief Minister also went to the hospital to inquire after the health of injured personnel. He directed the authorities to ensure the provision of the best possible medical treatment to the wounded officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Sohail Afridi said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police had shown exceptional bravery in the fight against terrorism. He added that the public must also stand united for their rights and for lasting peace in the province.
The Chief Minister said the sacrifices of the martyrs would not go in vain. He reaffirmed that restoring peace in the province remained the government’s top priority.
He further said that the provincial government and police would continue to fight terrorism with determination and oppose any attempt that goes against public interests and peace in the province.
Chief Secretary, Shahab Ali Shah and Inspector General of Police, Zulfiqar Hameed also accompanied the Chief Minister during his visit.
