Pakistan has rejected reports suggesting Iranian aircraft parked at Nur Khan Airbase were linked to military preservation efforts during regional tensions. Officials familiar with the diplomatic process described the claims as misleading and accused some media outlets of exaggerating routine logistical arrangements. Moreover, they said the narrative ignored the broader context of Pakistan’s mediation role between Iran and the United States.
According to officials, several Iranian and American aircraft arrived in Pakistan after the ceasefire and during the first round of Islamabad talks. The planes reportedly transported diplomatic staff, security personnel, and administrative teams connected to the negotiations. In addition, a small number of Iranian aircraft and staff members remained in Pakistan while preparations continued for possible future discussions.
Officials explained that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi visited Islamabad twice after the first round of talks. They said the presence of some Iranian logistical and security teams helped support those visits and related diplomatic coordination. Furthermore, they noted that American aircraft and security personnel also entered Pakistan for planned follow-up meetings before later relocating to regional U.S. bases.
Pakistan emphasized that it has maintained a neutral and impartial role throughout the mediation process. Authorities stated that Islamabad has provided logistical and administrative support equally to both sides in an effort to advance peace efforts. Moreover, officials stressed that Pakistan remained transparent with all parties whenever concerns or misunderstandings emerged during the negotiations.
The officials also rejected suggestions that the parked Iranian aircraft were connected to fears of possible attacks during active conflict. They pointed out that the aircraft arrived after the ceasefire had already taken effect and that no Iranian aircraft had been targeted during that period. As a result, they argued that linking the parked aircraft to military protection claims was inaccurate and unsupported by facts.
Pakistan said certain groups appeared determined to create unnecessary controversy and fuel regional instability through misleading reports. Despite the criticism, officials reaffirmed that Islamabad would continue pursuing constructive diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a negotiated settlement. Pakistan also stressed that promoting regional and global peace remains the central goal of its ongoing mediation role.
