An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday adjourned the hearing on the post-arrest bail petition of PTI activist Falak Javed till May 14 in a case related to the alleged attack on Islamabad police officials at Zaman Park.
ATC Judge Manzer Ali Gill conducted the hearing. During proceedings, senior defence counsel Mian Ali Ashfaq did not appear before the court. A junior lawyer appeared on his behalf and requested more time for arguments, which the court accepted while postponing the hearing.
The court also directed the prosecution to present the complete record of the case at the next hearing.
Falak Javed, currently lodged in jail on judicial remand, filed the post-arrest bail petition through her counsel, maintaining that the investigation had been completed and there was no justification for keeping her in custody.
According to the FIR, the accused was allegedly involved in the attack on Islamabad police officers during clashes at Zaman Park. The prosecution claimed that a petrol bomb was also recovered from her possession. The case states that Islamabad police had arrived at the residence of the PTI founder to comply with summons notices when charged workers allegedly attacked police personnel with petrol bombs, injuring several officers. The case was registered at Race Course Police Station under FIR No. 410/23.
