An important review meeting was convened at the Lahore Arts Council, Alhamra, to assess the progress of the extensive renovation and infrastructure enhancement project being undertaken under the Special Initiative Program of the Chief Minister of Punjab.
The meeting was chaired by the Secretary of Information and Culture, Punjab, Tahir Raza Hamdani.
The session featured a detailed briefing on the ongoing construction, restoration, and beautification work, with particular focus on the pace, quality and timely execution of the project. The initiative aims to revitalize Alhamra’s historic and cultural spaces to modern architectural and institutional standards, helping the organization strengthen its position further as Pakistan’s premier center for arts, culture, literature and performing arts.
Secretary, Information and Culture, Punjab, Syed Tahir Raza Hamdani, asked the relevant authorities to expedite all phases of the project while maintaining the highest standards of artistry and planning. He emphasized the importance of timely completion and asked officials to increase workforce deployment, maintain continuous supervision, and keep all development activities moving.
He stated that the Punjab Government is fully committed to transforming Alhamra into a state-of-the-art cultural institution equipped with contemporary facilities that support artistic innovation, intellectual engagement and world-class cultural programming. He further emphasised that every available resource will be utilised to ensure the successful realisation of this vision.
Executive Director Alhamra Muhammad Nawaz Gondal, while briefing the participants, reaffirmed Alhamra’s commitment to preserving its rich cultural legacy while embracing modern institutional development. He noted that the ongoing transformation would significantly elevate the experience for artists, audiences and visitors alike, while opening new avenues for creative and cultural expression.
The meeting was attended by renowned architect Nayyar Ali Dada, Executive Engineer Umair Maqsood, Mansoor Ahmad from NESPAK, DS Planning Rahat Jabeen, Deputy Director Admin Alhamra Umair Hassan and other senior officials.
