A Ukrainian drone strike has sparked a major fire at Russia’s Black Sea port of Tuapse, according to local officials. The attack caused environmental damage and raised concerns among residents over worsening pollution. It marks the latest escalation in strikes targeting Russian energy infrastructure.
The operation was confirmed by Ukraine’s drone forces commander and represents the fourth attack on Tuapse since mid-April. The port area, which includes oil facilities, has been repeatedly targeted in recent weeks. Previous strikes have disrupted refinery operations and fuel processing.

Moreover, the attack resulted in thick smoke clouds and oil leakage along the coastline. Authorities reported contamination spreading across beaches in the area. Emergency teams have been deployed to manage environmental cleanup efforts.
Additionally, local officials declared a state of emergency earlier in the week following earlier damage to refinery infrastructure. Large volumes of fuel oil and contaminated soil have been removed from affected zones. Residents have been advised to remain indoors and avoid exposure.
