Iran continues mediation talks with Pakistan

Published on: July 13, 2026 10:02 PM

Iran said on Monday it is continuing discussions with Pakistan, Qatar, and Oman to prevent further escalation in its conflict with the United States. Tehran said the mediators are working to reduce tensions and encourage diplomatic engagement. The efforts come as renewed military exchanges threaten regional stability and global economic confidence.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said the role of the mediating countries is to continue efforts aimed at preventing a wider conflict. He stressed that diplomatic channels remain active despite the recent escalation. Pakistan, Qatar, and Oman have all maintained contacts with the parties in support of de-escalation.

The statement came after Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claimed responsibility for strikes targeting US military facilities in Bahrain. The Guards also said they destroyed radar systems in Oman, including long-range airborne and ship-detection radar installations. The claims have not been independently verified, and there was no immediate confirmation from Bahrain, Oman, or the United States.

The latest developments have further strained an interim agreement between Tehran and Washington designed to contain the conflict. Renewed military action has increased uncertainty across the Gulf and raised concerns over regional security. Analysts also warn that prolonged tensions could disrupt global trade and energy markets.

Pakistan has consistently supported diplomatic efforts to reduce regional tensions and promote dialogue. Alongside Qatar and Oman, Islamabad continues to be viewed as an important channel for communication between the parties. The ongoing mediation reflects growing international efforts to prevent the conflict from expanding further.
