Ukrainian drones hit refineries, port in Russia

Published on: April 18, 2026 11:15 PM

Ukraine says it carried out overnight strikes on key Russian energy infrastructure, including two oil refineries and a port terminal. The attacks reportedly targeted facilities in Russia’s Samara region and the Black Sea coast, escalating cross-border hostilities.

According to Ukrainian drone forces, the Syzran and Novokuibyshevsk oil refineries were hit during the operation. Ukrainian officials said the strikes are part of continued efforts to weaken Russia’s fuel and logistics capabilities.

Separately, a strike was reported on the port of Vysotsk, which houses a Lukoil terminal, along with an oil depot in Russian-occupied Crimea. Ukrainian sources described the attacks as coordinated and carried out using drones.

The developments come amid intensified fighting on both sides. Russia recently launched heavy drone and missile attacks on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities, causing casualties and significant infrastructure damage.
