Islamabad United choose bowling first in PSL 11 eliminator clash

Published on: May 1, 2026 7:13 PM

Islamabad United won the toss and elected to field first against Hyderabad Kingsmen in Eliminator 2 of PSL 11 at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The decision reflects United’s strategy to chase under pressure in a high-stakes knockout match.

The match features two competitive squads with balanced history, as both teams have one victory each in their previous encounters. Their most recent meeting saw Islamabad United dominate after bowling out Hyderabad Kingsmen cheaply and securing a comfortable win with significant overs remaining.

In today’s playing XIs, Islamabad United fielded players including captain Shadab Khan, Devon Conway, Faheem Ashraf, and Imad Wasim, combining experienced international talent with strong all-round options. Meanwhile, Hyderabad Kingsmen included Marnus Labuschagne, Glenn Maxwell, Kusal Perera, and Saim Ayub to strengthen their batting lineup.

Furthermore, both teams entered the match with contrasting form, as Hyderabad Kingsmen arrived with momentum from two consecutive wins in the playoffs. Their recent victories included a strong performance against Multan Sultans and a dominant win over Rawalpindi-based debutants earlier in the competition.

However, Islamabad United showed mixed form, having won three of their last five matches but suffering a heavy defeat against Peshawar Zalmi in the qualifier. Despite that setback, their earlier performances and balanced squad give them confidence in knockout conditions.

Overall, the Eliminator 2 clash promises a closely contested battle as both teams aim to secure a place in the next stage of the tournament. With momentum, head-to-head balance, and strong lineups, the match remains open for either side to take control.
