A police constable was martyred after terrorists launched a pre-dawn attack on a police post in the remote Shadikhel area of Bittani subdivision, Lakki Marwat, officials said on Thursday. According to police, militants targeted the post using both light and heavy weapons in what authorities described as a coordinated, multi-pronged assault aimed at breaching the facility.

Police officials said law enforcement personnel responded swiftly and effectively, engaging the attackers in an intense exchange of gunfire that continued for some time. During the clash, Constable Noorfanullah embraced martyrdom while defending the post.
Authorities said the retaliatory fire by police personnel forced the attackers to retreat, foiling their alleged attempt to seize control of the police facility. The body of the martyred constable was later shifted to Police Lines at the District Headquarters Complex in Tajazai, where funeral prayers were offered with full official honours.
A police contingent presented a guard of honour to the fallen officer, while senior officials and family members attended the funeral ceremony. Among those present were Deputy Commissioner Hameedullah Khan, District Police Officer Nazir Khan, SP Investigation Murad Khan, and other district administration and police officials.
Officials placed floral wreaths on the coffin and paid tribute to the constable’s sacrifice. DPO Nazir Khan said the sacrifices of police personnel were essential to maintaining peace and security in the region.
He stated that the district police would continue operations against militants until terrorism is fully eliminated. Following the incident, the district police chief also visited border police checkposts and security positions in the Shadikhel area to review security arrangements and meet officers involved in repelling the attack.
