Officials said the shelling targeted a civilian neighbourhood, hitting the home of residents Kareem Khan and Rehmatullah. The impact of the mortar caused significant damage to the house and left members of the same family injured.
Medical authorities confirmed that five injured individuals, including three children, were brought to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Hospital staff described the condition of the victims as serious but stable, with efforts ongoing to provide medical care.
Residents of the area reported hearing a sudden and powerful explosion that shook nearby homes. One injured person, Noor Ali, said the mortar shell directly struck the house, resulting in a loud blast that caused panic in the locality.
Local accounts indicated that the attack created fear among residents, particularly due to the presence of children in affected households. Witnesses said the intensity of the explosion was strong enough to damage the structure of the house.
Security sources stated that the shelling originated from across the border and that such incidents have been occurring intermittently in recent days, targeting civilian-populated areas in the region.
Authorities described the situation as concerning due to the vulnerability of civilians living in border areas, where sudden cross-border firing can result in casualties and displacement. Residents have urged authorities to take steps to ensure their safety and prevent further incidents, especially in populated villages near the border.
